The gang of Planet Express is finally back, as “Futurama” returns with a new season on Hulu later next month. Hulu finally dropped the new trailer showcasing the upcoming season, showcasing the return of Philip J. Fry, Leela, and Bender, who are back and better than ever for more fun, sci-fi, irreverent adventures.

You can check out the new trailer for Season 11 of “Futurama” below:

‘Futurama’ Returns With Eleventh Season On July 24

The new season will begin streaming on Hulu starting July 24. The new season will reunite the entire original cast from the series, including John DiMaggio as Bender, Billy West as Fry, Professor Farnsworth, Zapp Brannigan and Dr. Zoidberg, Katey Sagal as Leela, Maurice LaMarche as Kif Kroker, Lauren Tom as Amy Wong, Phil LaMarr as Hermes, and David Herman as Scruffy.

This will be the latest revival for the show ten years after it last ended with its final season airing on Comedy Central. Hulu is promising new viewers will be able to pick up the series right at the start, along with developments in the ongoing love story between Fry and Leela, the mysterious contents of Nibbler’s litter box, the secret history of Evil Robot Santa, and the whereabouts of Kif and Amy’s tadpoles.

The show will also be topical as the official synopsis materials mention a “new pandemic in town as the crew explores the future of vaccines, bitcoin, cancel culture, and streaming TV.” The new trailer shows satire on the COVID-19 pandemic and the infamous nasal swab test. Professor Farnsworth demonstrates the test by jamming the swab up his nose. Dr. Zoidberg responds, “That looks like fun! I can’t wait to do it hundreds of times!” It also looks like the new season will riff on smart home speakers and lots more.

The series has had quite the road since it debuted on the FOX Network in 1999. “Futurama” won two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program throughout its run. The story follows young New York City pizza delivery boy Philip J. Fry (West), who accidentally freezes himself in 1999 and is unthawed in the year 3000. He now lives in the New New York City of the future, becoming best friends with the alcoholic robot Bender (DiMaggio), and falls in love with the cyclops Leela. Together, the group works at the Planet Express Delivery Company, owned by Fry’s elderly descendent, Professor Hubert Farnsworth. Throughout the series and animated movies, the group embarked on various adventures across all corners of the universe.

Season 11 will consist of 20 episodes debuting next month. The series was created by Matt Groening (“The Simpsons”) and developed by Groening and David X. Cohen. Executive producers for the new season include Groening, Cohen, Ken Keeler, and Claudia Katz.

As previously reported by The Blast, Bender voice actor DiMaggio was the last to confirm he’d be returning for the revival. However, he later closed a deal to return to the series in March 2022. DiMaggio wrote on his social media in February, “Bender is part of my soul & nothing about this is meant to be disrespectful to the fans or my Futurama family. It’s about self-respect. And honestly, being tired of an industry that’s become far too corporate and takes advantage of an artist’s time and talent.”

After signing a deal to return to the series, DiMaggio later said“I’M BACK, BABY! So damn grateful for the love and support of fans and colleagues alike during this whole time (especially my wife, Kate), and I cannot wait to get back to work with my ‘Futurama’ family.”

Fans who want to check out or rewatch the previous ten seasons of 140 episodes of “Futurama” can stream the show now on Hulu.
