Two 16-year-olds held for killing classmate’s father | Madurai News
Senthilnathan is survived by his wife Selvi and three sons, the eldest being a classmate of the accused minors at the Kumaraguruparar boys higher secondary school. Police said the victim’s son and the first accused fought during a tuition class a few days ago.
After the brawl was reported to the school, the boys were chided by the school management. Senthilnathan also reprimanded one of the boys. He had slapped the boy lightly on his head, but the boy took it seriously, said police.
He roped in his friends, aged 16 and 15, and they plotted to kill the snack seller. They barged into his shop on Saturday evening and hacked him with sickles. Neighbours who heard Senthilnathan screaming ran to the shop and the boys fled. Senthilnathan sustained fatal injuries and died before he could be sent to a hospital.
A police team from Srivaikuntam recovered Senthilnathan’s body and sent it to the government hospital for postmortem. His relatives carried out a protest in front of the hospital demanding that the police arrest the murderers. Police identified the killers using the CCTV camera footage. The minors were traced and the first accused was taken for interrogation.
Based on his confession, another 16-year-old boy who dropped out of Class X was picked up. Police are looking for the boy’s 15-year-old relative who is on the run.
Srivaikuntam region was rocked by back-to-back murders as another man was hacked to death while his wife was left seriously injured on Friday. The victim, Mayandi, who had pending cases against him, had accused his lawyer Devakannan of taking money from the opposite party. He carried out a protest in Srivaikuntam court and later in hospital. Subsequently, the relatives of the lawyer hacked Mayandi to death, injuring his wife.
